Objectives
Migr'hycar Project objectives and products cover three main areas:
Hydrocarbon physicochemical behaviour database
Based on laboratory and controlled-environment test results, an experimental physicochemical database on hydrocarbon behaviour in continental waters will add to the sum of international expertise on the subject. This will help apply theoretical knowledge gathered essentially from marine environments, to continental water conditions.
The database is to be made available to the scientific community.
Deterministic oil slick monitoring software
The development of a digital simulation tool, linked to the hydrocarbon physicochemical database, will allow oil spill drifts to be modelled.
Decision making and water resource management aid software for emergency situations
Integrating technical and scientific components of the project into existing pollution monitoring schemes will provide managers with new tools that are at once more powerful and more reliable. This will allow more efficient monitoring and warning systems at water treatment intakes as well as at industrial and leisure sites e.g. for swimming.
